Making the Impossible Possible
Vici Ladeji a Biography
“I love making the impossible possible,” says Vici Ladeji, the founder of Eventa management, one of Liverpool’s most successful event management companies. It is that business adage which could equally be applied to her career. Vici left school at 15 and trained as a hairdresser, owning her own salon by the age of 19. However, the bright lights of the big city beckoned and Vici decided to pursue a dream of working in film production. Starting off as a runner Vici worked her way up to become a producer.
“I loved the job but discovered a passion for creating amazing events when I took on the role of organizing the wrap parties at the end of the production,” said Vici.
In 2003 Vici’s life took a dramatic turn when her mother was diagnosed with a terminal illness and she returned home to Liverpool to nurse her. Armed with newly acquired skills as a party organiser together with the valuable experience and contacts in the film industry, Vici approached a local enterprise support agency to help her set up Eventa Management.
After Vici secured premises in the creative heart of Liverpool – Hope Street – Eventa grew into an award-wining business with an enviable client list including the UK Film Council, Arts Council England, the BBC and North West Vision to name but a few.
“Eventa prides itself on taking an unconventional approach to event management including squeezing as much creativity out of a budget. We sit down with client and ask them why they’re having the event, who they are targeting it at and what do they want to achieve from it. We then work backwards and design an individual event.”
Eventa has notched up countless awards in the past six years including Most Effective Use of a Budget at the CEA Awards in 2005 and Vici’s own Entrepreneur of the Year title in 2006. “Winning awards very early on in the life of the company has given me the self-belief that we may be small but we are very good at what we do”.
“I have exciting plans for the future including growing the business and taking on more staff. I truly believe that everyone has the potential to achieve great things if they put their minds to it and access all the valuable help and support that is out there.”
