Nigel Culkin


Nigel is founding Director, Group for Enterprise & Innovation (GRIE) and a Senior Academic Manager at the University of Hertfordshire. Over the past ten years, he's attracted £20M+ investment to help implement the University’s Enterprise Strategy, leading to the creation of a significant number of new jobs.

Most recently, a range of outputs from his work in business & the community and innovative research in this area, contributed to Hertfordshire being awarded, 'Entrepreneurial University of the Year' by the Times Higher Education.

Nigel launched and rolled out the Graduate Consulting Unit, a major new innovation, which has seen over 100 students engaged in experiential learning across 85 projects, generating fees in excess of £300,000 in the past four years.

He is a Fellow, NCEE & Kauffman Foundation Entrepreneurship Education, MRS, CIM and the RSA. Nigel holds non-executive directorships with a number of start-ups, small firms and social enterprises; he was elected to the Board of Trustees at ISBE in 2010.
