ISBE and Policy

Throughout its 33 year history ISBE has worked to build a strong relationship with the policy making community. Each year ISBE’s Annual Conference has maintained strong Policy focus with attendances by the Government Minister for Small Firms, representatives from local development agencies, the European Commission, numerous international policy makers and also high level representatives from high street banks, accountancy firms and chartered Institutes. In addition to attracting an audience of policy makers, ISBE is renowned for encouraging policy relevant papers to be presented at the conference, the outcomes of which have been directly used in the formation of Small Business & Entrepreneurship Policy.

ISBE ensures that its strategy and future plans for development retain a policy focus by having representatives from both the Regional Development Agency and BIS on its National Council.

Although ISBE does not provide policy prescriptions itself; its access to a large body of knowledge means its advice has been sought for the composition of such documents and it is seen as a consultative forum in the area of small business and entrepreneurship. Should you be seeking an expert for advice, to commission work to, or to partner with, you may wish to contact chris@isbe.org.uk about ISBE’s “Panel of Experts” which includes researchers interested in policy as well as those who work in the field themselves.
