INVITATION

We invite contributions to the forthcoming volume in the International Studies of Small Business andEntrepreneurship Research Series, titled Leadership in Entrepreneurial Contexts. This publication seeks to present scholarly insights on Leadership and Entrepreneurship (LE), and in doing so aimsto offer valuable resources for students, academics and practitioners. The volume focuses on howleadership operates within entrepreneurial ecosystems to drive innovation and support sustainableimpact. These, as you will agree, are key trends shaping future global contexts. Contributors are encouraged to submit empirical or conceptual studies that show examples of purposeful and impactfulleadership in entrepreneurial settings. These contributions should aim to highlight real-worldpractices that demonstrate how leaders mobilise creativity and innovation in the pursuit oftransformative outcomes.

Description

Entrepreneurship remains one of the most dynamic forces shaping global economic and socialtransformation. However, the study of leadership within entrepreneurial contexts has historicallylagged behind. And has been often overshadowed by a focus on venture creation, innovation, or financial performance (see Harrison and Leitch, 2018; Wheadon and Duval-Couetil, 2021; Mazzocchi,2006; Naudé, 2022; Omeihe, 2023). This proposed academic text aims to bridge this gap by exploring how leadership functions, adapts, and evolves in entrepreneurial settings. For us, the book viewsentrepreneurial leadership as a contextual and adaptive process shaped by uncertainty and socialdemands.

Our perspective draws from a wide range of scholarship in entrepreneurship, leadership theory, cultural studies, gender research, and organisational behaviour (Mollering, 2006; Figueroa-Domecq etal., 2020; Walumba et al., 2019; Kingston, 2014; Brush et al., 2022; Vershinina et al., 2022; Amoako, 2019; Omeihe, 2023; Pereira et al., 2024). More importantly, our approach looks atunderrepresented perspectives, particularly those from the Global South, to challenge thedominance of Anglo-American leadership norms, while recognising indigenous and context-sensitiveleadership practices. For this book, we want to address both foundational theory andcontemporary themes such as

inclusion, digital transformation, informal enterprise, and sustainability. At the same time, we would liketo see a clear and engaged view of how entrepreneurial leaders navigate opportunity and balancegrowth ambitions with ethical responsibility.
