About the Book
In an era defined by volatility, digital acceleration, and global uncertainty, the long-standing divide between entrepreneurial agility and strategic discipline is no longer sustainable. Strategic Entrepreneurship: Bridging Theory and Practice in Entrepreneurial Strategy responds to this challenge by offering an authoritative and integrative exploration of how entrepreneurial and strategic management perspectives combine to drive innovation, renewal, and sustainable growth in organizations. Bringing together world-leading scholars and practitioners, this comprehensive handbook establishes strategic entrepreneurship as a critical and evolving field of inquiry—one that addresses the dual imperatives of opportunity-seeking and advantage-seeking in an increasingly complex and dynamic world.
The handbook provides readers with an advanced synthesis of theoretical foundations, current debates, and emerging research frontiers in strategic entrepreneurship. It critically examines how firms identify and exploit opportunities, build and sustain competitive advantage, and adapt strategically to disruptions across sectors and regions. Organized into six thematic parts, the volume spans the field’s conceptual evolution, its applications in practice, and its future trajectories. Core topics include opportunity recognition, business model innovation, digital transformation, corporate entrepreneurship, international venturing, sustainability, and inclusive growth. Each section blends rigorous scholarship with practitioner insights, offering conceptual frameworks, empirical evidence, and rich case studies that translate research into actionable strategies for decision-makers.
The volume also distinguishes itself through its forward-looking approach. In addressing contemporary challenges such as artificial intelligence, digital ecosystems, geopolitical realignments, and responsible innovation, it situates strategic entrepreneurship within the realities of the twenty-first century. Contributors draw on diverse global perspectives, from developed, emerging, and developing economies offering a uniquely inclusive and context-sensitive understanding of entrepreneurial strategy. This global scope ensures that the handbook speaks to a wide audience and remains relevant to varied institutional, cultural, and industrial contexts.
Designed as both a definitive reference and a bridge between theory and practice, the handbook will appeal to multiple audiences. For scholars and doctoral students, it offers an invaluable foundation for understanding the theoretical intersections of entrepreneurship and strategy, while setting an agenda for future research. For practitioners, policy makers, and organizational leaders, it provides evidence-based frameworks and tools to navigate uncertainty, foster innovation, and create sustainable value. In doing so, it encourages the development of organizations that are not only competitive but also resilient, responsible, and future-oriented.
Thus, Strategic Entrepreneurship: Bridging Theory and Practice in Entrepreneurial Strategy aims to redefine the contours of the field by integrating intellectual rigor with practical relevance. By connecting conceptual advancements with real-world applications, this volume contributes to shaping both scholarly discourse and managerial action in strategic entrepreneurship. As a result, it will serve as an essential resource for academics, executives, and policymakers seeking to understand how entrepreneurial strategies can enable innovation-led growth and societal impact in an era of continuous transformation.
