The Cardiff Circular Economy Network (CCEN) is launched.
CCEN is a collaborative pilot project between Cardiff Metropolitan University, Celsa Steel UK, One Planet Cardiff and Cardiff Commitment run from January to September 2022. Partners have been working with businesses and schools within the Cardiff Council boundary to develop a fuller understanding of circular economy principles and practices. This project has received £52,262 from the UK Government through the UK Community Renewal Fund. Seven workshops were held. These provided an opportunity for businesses to engage in knowledge transfer and develop innovation and decarbonisation plans while educators developed lesson plans to embed circular economy principles across the curriculum.
On 4 October 2022, a highly successful launch event attended by representatives from the business community, education, Cardiff Council, Welsh Government, partners, and network members was hosted at Techniquest.
Building on the success of CCEN, three further circular economy projects are underway. These initiatives with partners across Wales are documenting and producing short films of good examples of how organisations across Wales have adopted circular economy principles and practices. A database of innovative and effective learning resources on the circular economy will be shared to help boost better knowledge and skills in this field and the CCEN network will be strengthened.
