In an era marked by increasing complexity, uncertainty, and systemic risk, the psychological dimension of leadership is becoming a critical factor in both organizational success and failure. Despite growing awareness of psychosocial risks (as highlighted by European frameworks such as EU-OSHA), the integration of personality diagnostics into leadership selection and evaluation remains limited. This guest talk offers a rare opportunity to explore how applied psychological methodologies can bridge this gap, combining scientific insight with real-world decision-making.

Drawing on over a decade of professional practice in aviation psychology, leadership diagnostics, and organizational assessment, Dr Daniel will explore how psychological profiling can be used to identify, predict, and develop personality characteristics relevant to positions of power and responsibility. The talk will also assess so-called “dark personality traits” (psychopathy, Machiavellianism, narcissism) and their relationship to leadership effectiveness, risk behaviour, and psychosocial dynamics within organizations.

Practical Components:

The talk will include live demonstrations of selected assessment tools and methodologies, such as:
  • elements of pilot selection psychological assessment
  • illustrative examples of leadership personality scanning and evaluation
  • interpretation of risk indicators in personality profiles

Participants will have the opportunity to engage with real-case inspired scenarios and discuss their implications for practice. Specifically, participants will gain insight into:

  • Advanced approaches to personality profiling in leadership selection
  • Psychological assessment frameworks used in pilot selection and aviation environments
  • Identification of risk-relevant personality traits in high-responsibility roles
  • The role of dark personality traits and dark empathy in organizational contexts
  • Ethical considerations in psychological evaluation and decision-making

Who Should Attend:

This talk is particularly relevant for:
  • students and researchers in psychology, management, and social sciences
  • professionals interested in leadership, decision-making, and risk assessment
  • those exploring the intersection of psychology, power, and organizational behaviour
