According to research, rural communities and social embeddedness are central to what defines a ‘rural entrepreneur’ (Bosworth and Turner, 2018; Korsgaard et al., 2015). With an aim to develop new research ideas and hosted by Bangor Business School and School of Environmental Sciences, we invite SIG members to presentations and discussions relating to what constitutes a rural community and a rural entrepreneur.

10.00am Welcome and Introduction—Prof. Robert Newbery
10.30am Entrepreneurship and food communities – Dr. Eifiona Lane & Dr. Rebecca Jones
11.00am Rural Hubs and co-working – Prof. Gary Bosworth
11.30am Challenges faced by rural businesses and their communities – round table discussion–Dr. Ed Jones and Dr. Siwan Mitchelmore
12.30pm Buffet lunch
1.30pm Where there is challenge there is opportunity— Dr Liz Heyworth-Thomas
2.00pm Facilitated networking session – Led by Dr Liz Heyworth-Thomas & Prof. Rosalind Jones.
3.00pm Writing a Minimal Viable Paper (MVP) – Facilitated by Profs. Newbery & Bosworth
4.30pm Round-up and close
*Presentations will be in Welsh and English, with translators in attendance.
