Scottish Entrepreneurship Research Day 2024

  •  11th June 2024
     9:30 am - 4:30 pm

The Transformative Enterprise Research Group (TERG) at the University of the West of Scotland, in collaboration with the Institute for Small Business and Entrepreneurship and the British Academy of Management, is delighted to announce the inaugural edition of the Scottish Entrepreneurship Research Day. The event which is themed ‘Entrepreneurship-The Driving Force’ is scheduled for June 11th, 2024.

Distinct from traditional research conferences, the Scottish Entrepreneurship Research Day is a unique one-day event designed to spotlight the dynamic and diverse research currently being undertaken by scholars at various stages of their careers—from doctoral candidates to early career researchers to seasoned academics. The day will feature a broad spectrum of contemporary issues within the field of entrepreneurship, both in Scotland and globally. Attendees can expect to engage with new ideas, preliminary studies, completed research, and innovative methodological approaches.

Our primary aim for this conference is to curate a selection of papers that are not only academically rigorous but also have significant implications for policy-making and practical application in the field of entrepreneurship. Participants will have the opportunity to receive feedback from their research and network with their peers.

In conjunction with the event, there are plans for a Special Issue and an Edited Volume that will further explore the topics discussed, this will be done in partnership with the TERG research group. These publications aim to extend the dialogue from the Research Day to encourage a deeper understanding of entrepreneurship as a force in economic and social development.

To address this event theme and encourage debate about entrepreneurship, we welcome presentations that focus on, but are not limited to, any aspect of entrepreneurship. In doing so, we invite researchers, practitioners, and policymakers interested in entrepreneurship to join us for a day of rich academic exchange and networking.

Submission Guidelines

  • A well-structured extended abstract submission, not to exceed 1,000 words, should include the following components: a title, the objective of the study, any theoretical framework applied, methodological considerations, key findings, and the implications of the research.
  • A maximum of two extended abstracts may be submitted per presenter (joint papers to be presented by co-authors will also be considered). The deadline for abstract submissions is the 15th of May 2024.
  • Participants will receive feedback on their research from peers and senior academics. There will also be an award for best original research. Extended abstracts will be treated on a first-come, first-served basis, so early submissions are encouraged. Limited funding may be available for doctoral students’ travel and transportation.
  • Please note that the event is completely free.
