The ISBE African Entrepreneurship Community of Interest, in partnership with the Academy for African Studies, invites you to a discussion on The Role of Alternative Financing in African Entrepreneurship, with Chike Chukwuelue, Group Head of Equity Investments at the Bank of Industry.
Entrepreneurship is widely recognised as an important driver of economic development and job creation across Africa. Yet access to finance remains one of the most significant constraints facing entrepreneurs seeking to start and scale their ventures. While traditional bank lending continues to play an important role, entrepreneurs are increasingly drawing on alternative sources of finance, including venture capital, angel investment and diaspora investment.
This session will examine the role of alternative financing in supporting entrepreneurial activity across the continent. Chike Chukwuelue will share insights from his experience in investment, enterprise development and the changing context of entrepreneurial finance in Africa.
The event will also provide an opportunity to discuss the recent policy paper on Trust, Formal and Informal Market Institutions by Dr King Omeihe and Dr Ibiyemi Omeihe.
Recognising the importance of developing future entrepreneurial leaders and scholars, the event will also include a dedicated discussion for doctoral students and early career researchers. And will explore opportunities beyond academia, including careers in entrepreneurship, investment, policy and innovation ecosystems.
